July 2016

As part of the Environmental Engineering and Sustainability track of Girls’ Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science (GAMES) camp, Lauren prepared and facilitated an energy-water nexus module. The module included topics such as water for energy in the power industry, energy for water within the public water infrastructure, bottled water, water law and policy, and biological concerns within the nexus. Campers enjoyed first-hand experience with the nexus via a tour of the Abbott Power Plant on UIUC’s campus, and a bottled water vs. tap water taste test.
