Undergraduate Research Assistant
Undergraduate Student, Civil and Environmental Engineering
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Rohini S. Gupta is an undergraduate student with a focus in Environmental Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering and Energy-Water-Environment Sustainability in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her research explores the ecological effects associated with the energy-water nexus, specifically identifying how thermal pollution from once-through coal power plants has affected fish populations in the Ohio River. Rohini also worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, modeling how elevated air and water temperatures linked to climate change might affect power plant efficiency.
On campus, Rohini is an Engineering Learning Assistant for ENG 100 where she helps freshmen assimilate into the engineering program and college life. She is the Vice President of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society, and has traveled to Cameroon with Engineers Without Borders to help provide electricity access to a village. In her free time, Rohini enjoys running, baking, and playing guitar.
