Symposium activities included a trip to the Great Pyramid of Giza

Dr. Stillwell delivered an invited talk at the 7th Arab-American Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine symposium, November 17-19, 2019, in Cairo, Egypt. In her talk, “Historic Data for an Uncertain Future: Sustainable Management of Water, Energy, and Food,” Dr. Stillwell presented recent work in collaboration with Dr. Chris Chini regarding water, energy, and food flows in U.S. cities and implications for sustainability.

The Arab-American Frontiers symposium is sponsored by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine in partnership with the Library of Alexandria and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The symposium  brings together researchers across diverse disciplines from both the United States and the Arab region with topics including water management, artificial intelligence, infectious disease, sensing technologies, and community resilience. Activities included scientific presentations, poster sessions, and cultural outings.
