Undergraduate research assistant Rohini Gupta received the 2nd Place Ira O. Baker Prize at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Civil and Environmental Engineering 2017 Awards Convocation.
The Ira O. Baker Prize is the highest honor for a CEE at Illinois graduating senior, and has been awarded every spring since 1924 in honor of Ira O. Baker, a Civil Engineering faculty member from 1875 to 1925, and Department Head for 39 of the 50 years. Selection is based on the student’s academic achievement, involvement in undergraduate research, leadership in student organizations, and personal characteristics including initiative, reliability, and potential. The names of the winners are engraved on a plaque in the Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory crane bay.
