Biography

Jordon Shropshire-Sands is a rising senior at Morgan State University, majoring in Architecture and Environmental Design. His current research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is centered on the life cycle analysis (LCA) of biomaterial alternatives, particularly within a community coping with homelessness. He is especially passionate about the topic of bioarchitecture and is committed to advancing sustainable design strategies that fulfill the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit.

In 2022, Jordon earned his GED at Hightstown High school and a Carpentry Certification from Mercer County Technical School, which laid the groundwork for his hands-on understanding of building construction. His undergraduate experience has deepened his interest in environmental sustainability and the psychological impacts of “third places” — spaces that foster community outside of home and work. Jordon enjoys sketching, designing, playing basketball, and exploring nature. Whether hiking or working in a local coffee shop, he seeks inspiration from the world around him.
